9 Lessons from 9 Years in Business
Nine years.
Nine years of building, growing, learning, and stretching. Nine years of wins, lessons, pivots, and the quiet moments where you wonder if you’re still on the right path. If I could sit across from you and share the things that have made the greatest impact, here’s what I’d tell you.
These are the lessons that have shaped me — the ones I wish I’d known from the start — and the ones I believe will serve you, too.

1. Community
You need other successful business owners in your corner. People who’ve been there, succeeded, and weathered the battles you’re facing. The right community will cheer you on when you want to quit, remind you of your worth, share their wisdom, and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you when things get hard. It’s not just about networking — it’s about surrounding yourself with those who understand your journey and will not let you give up.
2. Consistency
It’s about what you do every single day. Did you show up for your business today? Even if it was only for 30 minutes — did you show up? Success rarely comes from a single big push. It’s built in the 1% actions you take daily, the small habits that layer on top of one another until they create something remarkable.
3. Faith
You have to believe in you. And, my dear friend, you may be surprised to learn there will be times when you run out of belief. Being a business owner is hard. That’s where your community becomes essential — to remind you that you can do this, that solutions will present themselves, that you have what it takes. Believe in yourself. Believe in what you are building. Believe in the legacy you’re leaving behind. Believe.

4. Resilience
Never give up. Those three words have carried me through more challenges than I can count. There will be setbacks, missed opportunities, and moments that knock the wind out of you. But resilience isn’t about avoiding these moments — it’s about choosing to get up one more time than you’ve been knocked down. It’s knowing that even when things don’t go to plan, you can adapt, adjust, and keep moving forward.
5. Feel / Do
I’m a feeler. An empath. I’ve lived on both extremes — feeling so much I couldn’t move forward, and building walls so high I thought I’d never feel again. Neither worked in life or business. I had to learn to feel while doing. To process emotions without stepping away from the work for days or weeks. It’s not about ignoring how you feel — it’s about acknowledging it, processing it, and still showing up to do what needs to be done.
6. Focus
I love rabbit trails — new ideas, fresh concepts, learning something new. But I’ve learned that freedom doesn’t mean lack of discipline. True progress comes when your goals and priorities stay in front of you. When you dedicate yourself to what matters most, you find the space to innovate without losing momentum.

7. Write It Down
There’s power in putting pen to paper. Writing down your goals keeps them visible — not just in your workspace, but in your mind. It reinforces what you’re working toward and reminds you why it matters. When you see your goals regularly, they stop being distant ideas and start becoming daily priorities.
8. Systems
Success isn’t built on chance — it’s built on structure. I’ve learned that the right systems make everything flow smoother, from managing clients to executing events. Systems give you freedom — freedom to focus on the creative, the strategic, and the relationships that grow your business, because the day-to-day is running in the background with precision.
9. Tracking
If you want to grow, you have to measure. Financial health, marketing results, client feedback, project timelines — it all matters. Tracking isn’t about creating more work, it’s about giving yourself the information you need to make smarter decisions. You can’t improve what you’re not measuring.

Nine years have taught me that building a business isn’t just about what you do — it’s about who you become in the process.
So take a moment. Reflect on where you are, where you’ve been, and where you want to go. And when you’re ready, let’s connect. Because sometimes, the best next step is simply having a conversation with someone who understands the journey.
Until next time ~
